"The Land and The Living" exhibition February 3rd, 2011
Exhibition of New Paintings by Richmond Artist and Naturalist Virginia Tyack
MAIN RICHMOND PUBLIC LIBRARY, GELLMAN ROOMOPENING RECEPTION First Friday FEBRUARY 3RD, 2012 - 6:00 TO 9:00 PM - continuing through FEBRUARY 28TH
As a Master Naturalist, Tyack has become immersed in aspects of monitoring local Richmond water quality and the study of bottom-dwelling organisms. This work and her environmental interests inform her interpretations of nature and landscape.
Speaking about her work, she says: "We live in the midst of fantastically beautiful and fleeting apparitions of creatures, the landscape and the atmosphere which we hardly notice. We spend our lives among millions of unseen organisms, some of which observe us. I try to interpret this essence and mystery."
